Glenbrae’s  Duffy Role Model Assembly

On Monday the 18th of September, Glenbrae School had a Duffy role model assembly in our hall to celebrate 'Duffy's Reading in Homes' programme.

First we sat down and waited for the chief guest to arrive.  Then our student leaders guided the chief guest  to the hall. After that, Loto, Luisa and Aaliyahna introduced Niva Retimanu to us all.

Next,  Niva  told as about herself, her job and her work at the radio station. She started when she was 18 years old. We also learnt from Niva that she was a New Zealand born Samoan who was born in Invercargill.

After that Niva read a story to us. It was called Yuck Yuck Kiss Kiss. I liked the story because it was funny and made us laugh. Niva read the story with a lot of expression and that made it very funny and exciting.

After reading the story she gave out the Duffy books to all the classes. Candice from our class received her book from Niva because she was our class role model. I felt happy for Candice because it was an honour for her to represent the class.

Before saying thank you and good-bye to Niva, the whole school sang the Duffy song. I enjoyed the assembly a lot because Niva was very interesting and I was excited to learn more about reading

Finally, everyone left the assembly hall while room ten stayed back to have their fitness in the hall.

Clubs

Yesterday we had our first club activities for Term 3 in Room 9 with Mrs Sigamoney and Ms. Elia. I went to the Ukulele club.

First we had to tune our own ukulele with the tuner.  When it was my turn to put the tuner on my ukulele, I only used the tuner to tune the first string and then I was able to tune the rest of the strings by myself because it was  hard to use the tuner.

I felt very excited and happy to learn  how to play a ukulele because then I will know how to play a ukulele at home. When I knew how to play I was cheerful because Luisa and Cherise were cheering me up when I was playing the ukulele.

Kiwi Can

Kiwi Can

Room 10 had its last session with Kiwi Can for this term. All students were very eager to go and participate in the activities because they scored 25 points out of 25 last week.

The energiser activity was called Body parts. The students had to walk around and then when the name of a body par was called out, they had to buddy up and match the body parts with their buddy. Students had a lot of fun doing this activity.

After the energiser, the main activity was called bus stop. For this activity, students worked in pairs and they  had to write down names of six different things beginning with a letter from the alphabet as shown in the table below. As soon their list was complete, they had to call out “Bus Stop”. Then everyone stopped writing and listened to the list of names read out by the pair  that called out “Bus Stop”.

Everyone enjoyed this activity because it really made us think very hard to name things beginning with different letters from the alphabet. We all learned so much from this activity.

Name of Boy
Name of Girl
Name of a colour
Name of food
Name of animal
Name of a Place
David
Doreen
Dark red
Doughnuts
Dog
Denmark

Towards the end of the lesson, Maya thanked Mr. Niumia and Ms. Tuia for their hard work in keeping Room 10 busy during the Kiwi Can sessions.

We all came back to our classroom very happy and energised.

There are six people in my family. They are my mum, dad, three older brothers and me.

My dad’s name is Amipa and my mum’s name is Mele. My older brothers are Tevita, Edward and Vainikolo and I am Lesieli.

My dad works as a handyman and he makes furniture and repairs houses while my mum works as baker at the Skytower in Auckland City.  My older siblings and I are students.

In his spare time my dad likes watching  tv and supervises us with our housework while my mum is away at work.  My mum likes sleeping in her spare time because she works at night and is usually tired. She also likes visiting our relatives in her spare time.

My brother Vainikolo is funny but sometimes gets in trouble. My  brother Edward lives  in Australia with my cousin and he is very funny as well. My  brother Tevita is sometimes bossy and sometimes he is  kind.

I like my family very much because they all look after me.

Catch that thief

Long ago, there were four teenagers that lived together in a secret hide out and their names were Starfire, Beast Boy, Robin, and Cyborg.

All 4 teenagers were like ninjas, but there was a super Villain that tried to stop the four ninjas and take over the world. His name was Deathstroke. Deathstroke was very bad and he was always trying to kill the president but the 4 ninjas were always there to stop him. But then Deathstroke had a plan. His plan was to steal the power cell to transfer the power to himself so he could be INDESTRUCTIBLE. Deathstroke sneaked into the power room but he did not know he had crossed the red laser. The alarm went on. Then the 4 ninjas came out of nowhere and took him to the police. The police locked him in jail. Officer Wills Said,’’You are going to be in jail for a lifetime”.

Seven years later, the 4 teenagers  became adults and  the police discovered that Deathstroke was not in his cell. “Look there is a hole, he must have escaped from jail,” said officer Will. The 4 ninjas rushed to the power cell room but the power room was locked. Cyborg used his laser to melt the door. When they opened the door, the power cell was replaced with a bomb. The bomb blew up 5 seconds after they opened the door. BOOM.

Starfire and Robin were injured very badly. Starfire ended up with a broken leg and a broken arm and Robin ended up with broken a arm and two big pieces of glass landed on his leg. It was up to Beast Boy and Cyborg to stop Deathstroke. Beast boy and Cyborg used the police GPS to track Deathstroke. When they found Deathstroke, Cyborg and Beastboy had a plan to baricade his house with iron bars. Beast boy and Cyborg went inside the house to fight Deathstroke. Deathstroke had another bomb.  Then Beast Boy said, “Cyborg, go and get the power cell and get out of here’’.
“NO IF WE DIE WE DIE TOGETHER,’’ said Cyborg.
“No get out of here,” said Beast boy.  When Cyborg melted the iron bars and flew away, the house blew up and Deathstroke died. When Cyborg went to give the power cell to the president he went straight to Beast boy  to check if he was still breathing. Five minutes later, Beast boy woke up with lots of pain. He was rushed to the hospital.  The doctors said that Beast Boy has to go through surgery . Beastboy had to stay in hospital for three months.

When Starfire, Robin and Beast boy came out of the hospital, the four ninjas went to the President and got 1 million dollars as their prize. After that, the four ninjas flew to New Zealand and got 3 million dollars
from John Key. The four ninjas decided to live in New Zealand and the four ninjas lived happily ever after but not Deathstroke.        Image result for teen titans go cyborg transparent
